Why Investors Choose American Eagle Gold Coins

People are flooded with solicitations and advertisements throughout each day, and often remain unaware of more than half of the “offers” made to them through TV, the radio, and even entertainment. Often, this causes a bit of confusion, and nowhere is this made clearer than in such things as collectible coins. For example, there are not a lot of people that could itemize the reasons to purchase American Eagle gold coins as opposed to some sort of collectible coin.

What are the reasons? First of all, the American Eagles are made from gold bullion, and this is nearly pure gold. Most coins marked as “collectible” may have phrases like “24k” or “pure gold” in their descriptions, but the coins are more than likely only plated with the metal and not actually minted from it.

Additionally, investors know that American Eagle gold coins will always have value apart from their gold contents. This is not the same sort of value as rare or antique coins which can be priced according to the amount of gold or precious metals that they contain, but which are usually priced according to their conditions and scarcity. The way that the American Eagle gold coins retain their value is through their denomination markings, which are usually referred to as their “face values”. Of course, these face values are just a form of extrinsic worth which is assigned by the mint or treasury, but which always remains guaranteed and “static”.

Need an example? American Eagle gold coins come in $5, $10, $25, and $50 denominations. They are worth far more than that, but the fact that the face values exist means that the owner has a small amount of insurance against complete and total financial loss. For instance, if someone purchases a roll of the $50 coins (which usually contains ten coins) they will have a $500 face value. Naturally, they will be worth roughly twenty times more than this because their actual value is tied directly to the price of gold. If, however, the price of gold declines substantially or even disappears altogether, it is only those with government backed coins who will be able to still obtain some sort of return of the initial investment.

There are no other forms of investment that can insure against complete and total financial loss, and this is one of the reasons that investors find the American Eagles such a preferable acquisition.
